The resolution was adopted with 585 votes in favour, 40 against and 43 abstentions.
The resolutions condemns the crimes committed by the Russian paramilitary organisation the Wagner Group and related private military groups in various flashpoints around the world, including Ukraine, Syria, Sudan, Libya, CAR, and others.
The resolution:
- raises concerns about the violations of human rights and international law reported in relation to the activities of private military security companies (PMSC) such as the Wagner Group;
- urges the Russian authorities to withdraw all their mercenaries from Eastern Ukraine and Crimea;
- supports the endeavours of the Ukrainian authorities to bring the Wagner Group mercenaries active in Eastern Ukraine and Crimea before a Ukrainian court;
